Why is my data transmission not working?
Some reasons could be: Did I choose the correct driver unit with relevant administrator rights? Was the right interface chosen, in the software on the PC? (also see device manager)
Phase sensitive eddy current method: Which coating-substrate-combinations can be measured?
Here various measuring versions are possible: With the phase sensitive eddy current method one can measure nonferrous metals on ferrous metals, for example Zinc on Steel. Also nonferrous metals on non-conductive plastics may be measured, such as Copper on Iso. Another possible example is Nickel on Copper for the case of ferrous metals on nonferrous metals.
Amplitude sensitive eddy current method: Which coating-substrate-combinations can you measure?
The amplitude sensitive eddy current method measures electrically non-conductive coatings on electrically conductive, non-magnetizable substrates, such as anodized coatings on Al, lacquer on copper, lacquer on Al and ceramics on Ti.
Magnetic inductive method: Which coating-substrate-combinations can you measure?
The magnetic inductive method measures non-magnetizable coatings on well-magnetizable substrates, such as Zinc on Ferrous or Lacquer on Ferrous.
Which factors play a role for measuring accurately with FISCHER DFT instruments?
The measuring accuracy for FISCHER DFT instruments is dependant on factors such as coating thickness, surface condition, utilized probe a.s.o. Details for accuracy and repeatability under ideal conditions can be taken from the technical probe datasheets.
What needs to be considered for the measurement of nickel coatings with phase-sensitive eddy current and magnetic inductive probes?
One has to definitely calibrate on the real, relevant parts with an identified coating thickness. The magnetizability of nickel coatings may differ strongly, i.e. there may occur strong differences between the magnetizability of the measured parts opposed to the calibration parts. This can lead to measurement errors. Especially in the field of incoming inspections, problems may then arise.
An unknown error message is displayed by the measuring device or by the Fischer program. What do I do?
First, check the operatorโs manual to see if the error and its correction are described there. Otherwise, please send an email to the responsible Fischer service team detailing the serial number, the exact designation of the measuring instrument, the probe, the version number of the Fischer program, the error number (error code), the exact wording of the error message and the circumstances that led to the error.
What do I need to do to transfer data to my computer?
Connect the transmission cable to the computer and the measuring device. Install the appropriate driver software on your computer. In the evaluation program youโre using, select the correct interface to which the instrument is connected. To separate measured value groups, please set a group separator in the measuring device.
