Greenwood Fabricating & Plating (GF&P) is a full-service fabrication, machining, and electroplating company which prides itself on providing quality finished components to a wide range of manufacturers. GF&P have been using three FISCHERSCOPE® X-RAY XDL® 230 instruments for years which are ideal for measuring smaller samples. It was, however, a challenge to efficiently and accurately measure plating thicknesses on full length bus bars, large sheets, and oddly configured parts. Although the XDL230 was modified to measure 12 feet long bars, the process of sampling on a large scale was time consuming and taxing on operators, and true thickness landscape across parts and racking systems was unknown.
Prior to the launch of the FISCHERSCOPE® X-RAY XAN® 500, GF&P tested multiple handheld XRF instruments. These instruments were not ideal as they did not have specific coating thickness applications and required frequent recalibrations at the supplier to maintain their accuracy.
The XAN 500 allows GF&P to increase their productivity by providing onsite calibration and applications dedicated to measuring coating thicknesses. Now, GF&P is able to reduce costs of over plating by easily testing multiple spots on large bus bars.
The XAN 500 has helped GF&P to improve their worker productivity. Their goal of delighting their customers with high-quality plating is now easier to achieve than ever. As a result, they have seen a return on investment in less than 3 months.
