X-ray fluorescence analysis for non-destructive coating thickness measurement in the field of cold forging

Safe and non-destructive measurement of calcium phosphate coatings on steel wires.

Wire drawing is a cold forging process in which a coarse wire produced by rolling is drawn through a tapered opening of a tool, such as a drawing die. If the workpiece and tool slide against each other during metal forming, friction occurs. Functional coatings reduce tool wear and counteract seizure. Determining the coating thickness of these coating systems is therefore critical. Read our new case study to learn how you can benefit from using X-ray fluorescence analysis (XRF) for this particular application!
