Keep ferrite content under control: ensuring the material properties of your steel components and welds

Mobile, on-site measurements – fast, precise, and standards-compliant for austenitic and duplex steels

In chemical, energy, and petrochemical plants as well as process engineering applications, steel components and welds are exposed to extreme stresses: high temperatures, aggressive gases, and high pressures can alter the steel structure and significantly compromise mechanical stability. For the required material properties of austenitic and duplex steels, the optimal ferrite content is crucial. Inaccurate ferrite measurements or fluctuations in ferrite levels can lead to premature wear, corrosion, and production downtime.

Our FERITSCOPE® DMP®30 with our digital D-F-Fe probe enables mobile, precise, and standards-compliant ferrite measurements directly on-site – ensuring that even in demanding environments, the material properties of your steels are reliably maintained, while costly downtime and safety risks are minimized.

In this Application Note you will learn, among other things:

  • how to accurately and reliably measure ferrite and martensite content in austenitic and duplex steels and welds with the FERITSCOPE® DMP®30 and the D-F-Fe probe
  • why the FERITSCOPE® DMP®30 and the D-F-Fe probe are perfectly suited for this application
  • which probe designs provide maximum flexibility for hard-to-reach areas
